Summer is underway, and things are getting hot, hot, hot! Now's the ideal time to tackle home renovations in and around your house, and these four home improvement projects will have you reaping the rewards all year long.
Four Summer Home Improvement Projects To Tackle This Year1. Install New Cooling Methods When it's hot outside, naturally you want it to be cool indoors. If you feel like your home's HVAC system isn't keeping your home cool enough, consider scheduling a maintenance visit. If you have a window or in-the-wall air conditioning unit, be sure your filter is cleaned, the coils are vacuumed and be sure to give the entire unit a good wipe down. Additionally, inspect the outside of the unit for any obstructions like bird or insect nests. To keep cool air circulating, installing a few ceiling fans is always a good idea. Choose stylish fans that fit your decor and budget and, of course, find a size that is appropriate for the room. 2. Install French or Bi-Fold Doors If space allows, consider opening up a wall in your home to beautifully-styled french or bi-fold doors. Installing wide, glass doors is much like bringing the outside in by exposing the room to a significant amount of exterior light and assumingly, a beautiful view. French or bifold doors allow you to open up the back or side of your home, giving you direct access to your deck, patio or porch, and this wider opening will also allow access for larger items into and out of your home (bonus!). Choose doors with the Energy Star seal and a decent warranty.
3. Install Landscaping
While no doubt your home has some landscaping, how about installing additional landscaping? How about adding a fountain or a pond, a pergola or gazebo to your property? Check out these 90--count 'em, 90--awesome tractor tire ponds you can recreate on your own property. You might want to try your hand to hardscaping, too, by putting in a new path, patio or even a wall. Turning your yard into an outdoor living space helps you to get more use out of it. You can set up a seating area, somewhere to grill and prepare food, and somewhere shaded to shelter from the sun. 4. Install Solar Panels Have you thought about making your home more eco-friendly? Summer is the ideal time for installing solar panels and to start reaping the benefit of solar energy right away. Energy savings, tax credits and rebates and living green are all benefits of using solar energy. Most companies offer free estimates, so why not take advantage and weigh the pros and cons for yourself?
These are just four home renovation projects you can do this summer. Have any others to suggest? Let us know in the comments below!
