Sick Of Your Home? Read This!
The majority of people are paying too much for their homes, and getting so little from it. With the way that the economy is at the minute, it’s easy to see why so many people are struggling to not only afford their homes, but keep themselves happy whilst in it. But, we think that if you fall into this category, we know exactly how you can improve your outlook. Have a read of the sections below, and see what we can do for you!
Stop Overpaying On Bills
The last thing you want to be doing is spending more money than you have to on your home, but that’s exactly what people across the world are doing. Bills are a nasty trap that most of us fall into, but we have to admit, we really don’t help ourselves sometimes. Sometimes we make terrible decisions with our energy usage and water usage, and boy do we pay the price at the end of the month. If you’re not on a fixed tariff, then you could be paying silly amounts of money each month. If you are on a fixed tariff and the provider sees that you’re using far too much water or electricity, then that fixed tariff can soon change, or you could be faced with a big charge at the end of your bill. So, if you’re sick of your home because of the money that’s flying out of your account every month, then use these hacks. The first hack is to get yourself off a fixed tariff. Whilst they might seem good on the surface, if you don’t read the fine print you could be slapped with a surprise surcharge that you just can’t afford. Or, if you’re using well over the limit that you specified, they could just cancel your tariff altogether, but don’t think they’ll cancel it for free! If you use a smart meter you’ve got more of a chance of being able to control what you spend as you can see the readings for yourself in real time. Or, you could go for an option where you top up as you go. This works out a lot better, as again, you can use a smart meter to watch what you’re spending so you know if you’re going to run out of either electricity or water. We do recommend that you follow guides such as this one to make sure that you’re finding ways to conserve your energy and water, and hopefully to get your bills down. If you follow the tips that we have given you, being sick of your home because of your bills should melt away!
Get To Know Your Neighbours
You might not have thought about it before, but your neighbours are actually a big part of your home experience. If not for you, then they definitely are for your children! If you live in a street of the main road, then your children have more chance of building life long friends, and getting out of the house to enjoy some time outside. If we all think back to our childhood, memories are filled of being outside with the people we met in our neighbourhoods, rushing in for dinner, and being desperate to get a little bit more time outside before the sun went down. But it’s a shame that so many children would now prefer to be inside, glued to the TV or some sort of gaming console. If you encourage your kids to get outside by getting to know the neighbours, not only will your children have a more active life, they will also have more experiences. As for you, it’s great to have someone that you can rely on. If you ever need anything from someone quickly, they’re right next door. If you ever need someone to watch the house, they’re right next door! If you haven’t already introduced yourself, take some cakes round, or just go round for a chat. Most neighbours will be more than happy to get to know you!
Add Something A Little Funky
A home is your playground when it comes to the additions you can have, and we definitely know a few that are going to blow your mind. So, imagine this, you’re in such a rush to get to work, you have to wait a few minutes for the kettle to boil, and those few minutes could just make you late. Well, why not have a look at boiling taps. They’re the best invention since sliced bread, and we know that if you get one installed, it will blow your mind. All you have to do is get one installed, and it’ll be joined to your normal tap which will work as it always has. You usually just have to press down on part of the tap, or even press a button, and instantly boiling water will come out,. It might seem like a big of a novelty, but we promise it will come in handy more often than not, and once you get one, you’ll never have to use a kettle again. They’re not too expensive either! Let’s stay along the lines of technology and inventions, and think about something you can have outside. If you rarely use your garden at the minute, it’s because your garden isn’t worth using! Want to know what will make it that way? A hot tub. You might have been put off the idea because you’ve heard how expensive they are, but are they really that bad? No, they’re not! You don’t even have to go for one of the really big expensive ones, you can easily get just as much enjoyment out of one of the inflatable ones, and you’ll pay half the price to buy one of them. We will admit that if you’re using it all of the time, the bill that will come with it will be pretty expensive. If you use it for a weekend or two every month, you shouldn’t find yourself in that much trouble!
Love Your Decor
You’ll love your decor when you first change it. In fact, all you’ll think about it waiting to show it off to the people coming round to your home. But, as time goes on, the novelty wears off, and you’ll soon get bored of what you’re looking at. So, we recommend leaving it no later than a year to change your decor. It might seem like a bit of a task to do it so often, but is it really going to set you back that much? If you and your partner take some time one weekend to get it all done, then it really won’t take that long to do. Plus, if you were to buy paint or wallpaper, you’re not going to be set back that much considering it’s a once a year thing. When you do change your decor, you can think about changing your decor such as the accessories you put around your home, and any ornaments that you might want to buy. We would recommend changing a room at a time, starting with the main rooms. But whatever you do, don’t forget to do your bedroom! People go years without switching up their bedroom!
Fall In Love With Another Home...maybe?
Sometimes the feeling you’re having just can’t be solved. Sometimes you just outgrow the home you’re in, but you don’t even consider the thought of moving because of the costs involved. But, if you save for a year or so, there should be nothing holding you back. You can sell the home and move the mortgage to your new one, and all you’ll have to pay is a few fees that would usually be involved with moving home. During the time where you’re saving for the fees, you can take some time to find what you would really want from a home. A bit of land for your kids to enjoy, an extra room to convert into a playroom? A big garage for you to put the car in? They’re all options that you could explore! Just make sure you’re calculating the costs of keeping your home up and running, as well as the costs of the actual move!
