Jean shorts are one of most versatile, easy going, comfy casual summer staples that belong in everyone's wardrobe. Think wearing them with a scrappy tee on laundry day is the only way to go? Think again! Here are some awesome ways to style your jean shorts throughout the season.
How To Style Jean Shorts (summer outfit ideas)Pair faded jean shorts with a cute boho peasant top. Whether it's off the shoulder, v-neck, scoop neck, bell sleeve--or heck--all of the above, you cannot go wrong with a peasant top/jean short combo! Add some strappy sandals and you can take this look from the mall to the park, and even the beach!
Keep it casual and comfy.
A simple graphic tee (preferably in a French cut for women), comfortable kicks and a pair of flirty sunnies are the perfect combo for a casual day out! Keep accessories like your bag, jewelry and timepiece simple and complementary to your outfit.
Pair with a loose fitting top.
Let's face it, jean shorts are generally tight fitting, and that's a good thing--ain't no shame in showing off your curve game! To balance bottoms, pair with looser fitting tops. Long sleeves or no sleeves, tucked or untucked, the look is undeniably classic. Consider unbuttoning to there and let a peek of a lacy tank or bralette show through...me-wow!
Get inspired by music festivals.
Lately it seems music festivals are about fashion just as much as they are about music. Coachella, Bonnaroo, SXSW--girls are rockin' hot hippie looks day AND night. Bralettes, concert tees and bodysuits under lightweight kimonos dominate. In fact, bralettes are so having their moment right now. Check out The Better Fit's article on How To Wear a Bralette: 101 Trendy and Stylish Outfits to see how to rock them with a classic pair of jean shorts.
Work denim shorts day AND night.
While frayed, distressed and destroyed jean shorts are best for casual days, solid black denim in a reasonable length are perfect to segue from day to night. Pair with something a bit unexpected like a roomy, lightweight sweater and boots or a lacy tank and bralette with strappy wedges. The look is understated yet extremely sexy.

I love peasant shirts! I am a huge fan of the boho style. I don't wear jean shorts but these same styles would apply to cute jean skirts.

Me too! That's generally how I wear them, with a loose top and tank under it or with a boho peasant blouse. xoxo

Ahhh, this has given me so much inspiration for how to wear my jean shorts in the summer. I've always been too worried about how to wear them because I feel like it might not be enough material to cover up. But some of these looks really do-able and super cute! Especially the bardot style tops. Thanks!
