Summer can be a harsh time for our hair. While it might not be as rough as the cold season, it can still take a bit of work to get our hair looking as sleek and shiny as it does in other seasons. With the boosted temperature that makes you sweat and UV rays which can damage your scalp, it’s important to look after your luscious locks during this hot season.
So to help you out, we’ve prepared a couple of summer tips to help you achieve that gorgeous summer hair that you’ve always wanted. Gorgeous Summer Hair Is Easier to Achieve Than You ThinkLower The Heat The last thing you'll want to do is add to the already hot and dry heat of summer by overusing a hot styling tool. If you can, let your hair dry naturally during the warmer months, while using a lightweight conditioner with sun protection. If you must blow dry, use a cooler setting than you normally would, and blow dry until damp, not completely dry. Choose The Right Products There’s rarely ever a single solution for all of our hair's issues, so shop around for products suitable for your specific hair type, whether it be products for biracial hair, products to treat dandruff or products specifically for color treated hair. If you're unsure of what's right for your hair type, consult your salon professional for advice, or ask friends and family members with similar hair types what they'd recommend.
Wear Long Hair A Little Looser
Try to avoid hairstyles like tight ponytails or severe braids during the height of the summer sun., and aim for looser styles like low ponys or chignons. Pulling on your hair can cause tension to hair follicles and exposing damaged hair follicles to harsh UV rays may cause even more damage. Additionally, be sure to use ties and elastics that are fabric-coated to help eliminate broken or split hairs.

Wash Your Hair Less Frequently
Washing, as we all know, removes the natural oils that keep your hair looking and feeling great. This causes our scalp to produce more oil which causes that “I really need to wash my hair again” feeling. Try going a few days between washings, using a dry shampoo in between if necessary. When washing your hair, try to stick to natural hair products if possible to keep your hair free of chemicals that can further damage hair and irritate your scalp.
So whether you’ve got curly hair, short hair or incredibly long hair, make sure you take the right measures to protect it from the heat of summer.
