If winter has your complexion looking dull and tired, I feel your pain. In addition to the dull skin, I'm also suffering from dryness and some redness, so typical at this time of year.
If you're looking for a few tips on how to achieve flawless looking skin like me, you're in luck. We put together five ways for you to perk up your winter skin, and the results are super easy to attain. Five Ways To Achieve Flawless Looking Skin In Winter1. Use A Facial Steamer
If you've never steamed your face before, you're in luck. Steaming helps to open up your pores and loosen dirt, debris and excess sebum that might be trapped inside, dulling the appearance of your complexion and ultimately leading to breakouts. The warm steam increases blood flow promoting collagen and elastin production. To do a simple steam, add 4-6 cups of boiling water to a heat-safe bowl. Add essential oils or herbs (chamomile or rose work well for dry skin), stirring gently to combine. Position your clean, dry face about 6" over the bowl of steaming water and drape a towel over your shoulders and head so that you and the bowl are tented beneath the towel. Steam for approximately 5-10 minutes, then pat dry with a soft, clean towel. Follow up with your favorite face mask or toner, serum and moisturizer.
2. Increase Your Water Intake
It’s fair to say that a lot of what goes into achieving flawless skin is the stuff that you put into your body, and not always what you put on it. By increasing your water intake, you'll help to flush out toxins and increase blood flow, for noticeably improved skin. Other benefits of drinking water? Reduced pores and tighter skin, which helps to minimize fine lines and wrinkles. Swap out soft drinks for water, and make sure you're drinking no less than 64 oz. of H20 every day for maximum benefits.
3. Use Tea Tree Oil
For winter skin, tea tree oil is great for lessening irritation and itching associated with dry patches on the skin. You can apply directly, or mix it in with your favorite moisturizer.
Tea tree oil is also a fantastic antiseptic that is great at helping to diminish blemishes and banishing red spots. Not only that, but if you’re wondering how to remove skin tags, you need look no further than tea tree oil. Try applying tea tree oil to the skin tag using a cotton bud 3 times a day. Results won't be instant but the skin tag will eventually be reduced / removed.

4. Try A Charcoal Mask
Charcoal everything has been all the rage for quite some time now, and for good reason. The activated charcoal draws bacteria, toxins, dirt and oil to the surface of the skin. It then absorbs those substances and is washed away when you rinse the charcoal (or peel the mask) from your face. Since charcoal can be hella drying, I wouldn't suggest using a peel off face mask in the winter. Instead, opt for a charcoal sheet mask and make it part of your night time skincare routine once a week. Follow up with a heavier moisturizing night cream.
5. Slather On The Sunscreen
We all know that wearing sunscreen will help to protect us from skin cancer and wrinkles, but so many of tend to overlook it in winter. Don't be fooled by a lack of sunlight in the winter, your skin is just as prone to skin damage now as it is in the summer.
Look for a sunscreen with an SPF of about 30 and has a healing ingredient like aloe vera, to help heal dry skin. We can't stress enough how important it is to wear sunscreen. Looking at these skin facts (below) has us doubling down on our SPFs. I had no idea that your chance for skin cancer doubles if you've had 5+ sunburns, scary! *This post contains affiliate links.
