Fall might be my favorite season simply for the fashion alone. I look forward to busting out the cozy sweaters, the boots and even the flannel pjs that have been napping in storage bins for the past six months. I love all of the colors of the season--golds, tans, greens, reds and burgundys--and even plaid. Cuz plaid's a color, if you ask me. Here are a few fashion must-haves for fall:
Fall Fashion Must-Haves & Outfit Ideas1. Boots, Boots & More Boots
You are not allowed to participate in fall unless you own at least one pair of boots. Casual boots in tan and black, with a flat to moderate heel, dressy black boots with a mid to higher heel and a standard-issue pair of tan suede or leather booties, if you please!
2. Cardigans In Every Size, Shape & Color Of The Season
Think black, tan, olive green, burgundy, heather gray. We are talking long cardigans, short cardigans, wrap cardigans; sleeveless cardigans, cardigans with shawl collars; cardigans with buttons and cardigans without. Cozy batwing and cocoon style cardigans rule, too!
3. Oversized Sweaters In Every Color Of The Season
Again, we're thinking black, tan, olive green, burgundy, heather gray. Go off the shoulder for a peek at a tank in a contrasting color. Layer with necklaces of various lengths. Much like their cozy cousins (aka cardigans), oversized sweaters also work great with #4 on our list.
4. Chunky Infinity Scarves & Blanket Scarves
In addition to looking stylish and keeping you warm, these are great for adding pops of color to your outfit. Generally these scarves are reasonably priced, so why not grab one in every color of the (fall and winter) rainbow?
5. A Classic Denim Jacket
A medium weight denim jacket is perfect for layering. A medium weight denim jacket is perfect for anything, really. Actually, a classic denim jacket is life.
6. Sleeveless Down Or Faux Down Vest
Another fall wardrobe staple is the timeless down (or down alternative) vest. Pick a color that goes with everything, like winter-white or black. Make sure it's comfortable, especially around your arms and shoulders. They are made to be layered and you don't want to feel restricted while moving about.
7. Distressed Denim Jeans
I’m not sure if this is a fad but it’s been around awhile and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Black denim and faded blue work best for this trend. Cool weather idea: Have destroyed denim with too much "holeage"? Wear opaque tights underneath for an extra layer of warmth and a chic pop of color.
8. Patterned Leggings
Leggings, especially when lined, are the bomb.com in cooler weather. Stylish and super affordable, pick up several pairs in different patterns and prints to wear with just about every fall wardrobe topper: cardigans, ponchos and oversized sweaters; even long sleeved denim or corduroy shirts!
9. Ponchos, Capes & Ruanas
I love capes and ponchos 1-because they hide a multitude of sins, 2-they are cozy-comfy and 3-they look so damn good. Layer with a few long necklaces and lariats.
10. Peasant Tops
Maybe we have The Pioneer Woman to thank for this trend or maybe it's "trendy" because they are freakin' comfortable, cute and stylish. I love them myself, and recently bought a few from Kohl's.
11. Large Totes, Bucket Bags & Neverfuls
Put away those cute little crossbodys you were rocking over the summer, it's time to bring out the big boys. Bags in jewel colors and earthy tones, and of course classic black, are popular this season.
