In many ways, finding the ideal beauty product is like finding your one true love. It’s a match made in heaven, and you couldn’t imagine life without it. I remember so many beauty products of my youth, so many I loved and so many not around today. One of my personal faves was Nature's Blush by Coty. You swiped the colorless stick across your cheeks and a soft blush would appear, tailored to your natural coloring. Genius!
This product became a staple in my makeup routine for years. I had no idea, of course, that so many makeup products have an expiration date, literally and figuratively. Once I learned that my favorite blush had been discontinued, I scrambled to find a new favorite. But I have to wonder, could there have been something I could have done to support my favorite blush more?
Can You Stop Your Favorite Beauty Products From Being Discontinued?
My favorite blush sitch is one we’ve all been in, and it’s tough. Just when you thought you could settle down with your true love, you find yourself in the midst of a makeup breakup.
For the most part, though, we take the discontinuation debacle lying down, because so many times we don't even know our favorite products have been discontinued until it's too late. And then what? Start a petition? A GoFundMe? Organize a march on Washington? Ok, ok, I'm being facetious. What can we do, after all? In truth, once a decision like this has been made, we're are relatively powerless. But, we can make efforts to avoid discontinuation in the first place.
If a product doesn’t sell, a company has no incentive to keep it on their shelves. Would you keep throwing good money after bad? Of course not! That isn’t the way business works anyway. It makes sense, then, that the best way to ensure your favorite products stay strong is to support their sales. By getting the word out in whatever way you can, you can rest easy knowing you've done your part to promote your favorite brand.
Become A Representative
Depending on how dedicated you are, you could always become a brand distributor, especially if your favorite product is a direct sales product. Perfectly Posh (our favorite), Mary Kay and Lipsense are popular direct sales makeup companies and if your favorite products come from one of these companies then it might behoove you to jump on board with their company. How better to do your part for your favorite beauty love?
If you don’t fancy becoming a beauty rep, or your favorite product isn't a direct sales brand, why not contribute to sales by reviewing those products close to your heart? Beauty blogging is big business. Those with decent audiences have a fair sway on the sales of specific products. If you don’t fancy writing, you could embark on a beauty-based YouTube channel. Here, you could make videos which show the impact your favorite products has. Either way, shouting loud and proud could see sales soaring for a long time to come.

Tell Your Friends
At the very least, you should be sharing the love of your favorite beauty products with your friends. Word of mouth remains one of the most effective marketing tools, after all. A personal recommendation to a good friend can ensure a sale. If they like what the see, they’ll then recommend to their friends, and so on and so on and so on!
Oh look, another product I loved to pieces that's been discontinued! I bet if I told more than two friends, it'd still be around...
Don't Buy In Bulk
Sometimes when we fear a product might go missing, we tend to pick up several at a time, don't we? But, doing this is also an issue of practicality. You know the product works for you, so why wouldn’t you buy such large quantities? In truth, there’s a very good reason. When you buy a product in bulk, you increase its chances of discontinuation. It may sound strange, but companies won’t produce a product only a handful of customers are purchasing, no matter how much of it they’re buying. In layman's terms, if a company gets five sales in one day, for instance, that product is worth their time. But, if one customer purchases all the stock at one time, that’s only one sale. What's more, being all stocked up with your favorite product means it's going to be quite some time before you make a purchase again. And, that leaves the cosmetic company with an unclear picture on future sales. Instead, get into the habit of buying one product at a time, and returning for a repeat sale when you run out. That way, the company sees the product gets continual attention, and are less likely to take it off the shelves.
Make Use Of Feedback
Make sure, too, to provide positive feedback to the company. Too often, we only think of doing this when we’re unhappy. But, it's just as important to give them feedback when you're happy with a product as well. Seeing a positive review on their website or social media accounts may also encourage others to leave feedback and possibly into purchasing the product as well.
