In the summer, we spend a lot of our time outside. The sun is out, the sky is clear, the clouds are white and fluffy, and we have a lot of spare time away from work on our holiday to really enjoy the setting. But that also means we spend a lot more time at home, and you may be starting to notice all the areas of your house that may get a bit neglected during your other seasonal schedules…
Most notably, you’re going to notice how your house looks on the outside, and what everyone else sees when they pass you by each day. Curb appeal is a very real thing, and seeing as we’re spending more and more time in the garden and out and about, it’s going to affect us too! So now’s the time to really perfect your curb, and here’s a couple of ideas to get you started.
Perfecting Your Home's Curb Appeal
Introduce Some More Symmetry
You’ve probably got a pathway leading up to your house, or at least a gate that keeps the front garden separate from the rest of the street. Use this area to introduce a look of symmetry to your home; it’s always better to have an equally balanced entranceway than nothing at all!
Have some plants either side of the door, whether they’re planted in the ground or in pots. And if you’ve got the space to grow some shrubs there, take the time to cultivate them now! Then you can get some lights to give the edge of the pathway more depth and definition, and you’ll be a real pretty picture once the evening rolls around; the summer feeling never stops when you’ve got a good garden to show off.
Wash Your Walls Down
Your walls could probably do with a bit of TLC, especially if you haven’t given them a second thought since you moved in! The exterior walls of your house out put up with a lot of abuse from the weather and other outside forces, so make sure you’re doing your bit to keep them in good check, with a bit of reinforcing every now and then.
Don’t worry, it’s easier than you think to clean them up and make them good as new. There’s a pressure washing miracle out there for you to invest and indulge in, and even the siding that might be on your house will be able to stand the test of the jet sprays. Having experts on hand to clean up for you is the true summer relaxation you want! And once you’ve washed up and sanded down properly, you can get to adding a fresh lick of paint. There’s nothing like a cool blue or a pale yellow to really give your home that summer vibe you always wished it had!
Get your gloves on; give your house a facelift!
