Cleaning… it’s a task most of us don’t enjoy, but it is an essential one! The trouble is that no one ever teaches us about cleaning in school. Plus, when you walk into a supermarket today, you will see that there are so many different cleaning products to choose from. How are you supposed to know which products you are going to need? You can’t but them all! With that being said, read on to discover more about some of the most common cleaning mistakes that people make so that you can avoid making them.
Cleaning Mistakes You’re Probably Making
Not cleaning frequently enough – Let’s begin with the one mistake that most people know they are making. However, it is so important to make sure that you clean on a regular basis. We all lead busy lives. But if you put cleaning off, you are only going to give yourself a massive chore at the end of it.
Spraying surfaces directly – When you spray furniture and other elements in your home directly, it can cause a build-up that is incredibly challenging to remove and can attract even more dust. The best thing to do is to spray the cleaner directly onto the cloth instead.
Forgetting to clean your vacuum – When cleaning your home, it is important to make sure that the things you are using are actually clean. If you do not clean your vacuum, you are only going to be moving dirt around, rather than picking it up. You also need to make sure that you replace the bags in your vacuum whenever they are a third full.
Cleaning your windows on a sunny day – We are often tempted to clean our windows whenever the sun is shining because it makes it more enjoyable for us. However, it is better to leave window cleaning to a cloudier day. This is because the sun’s heat is going to make the cleaning fluid dry at a much quicker speed, which can leave smears.
Vacuuming first – If you vacuum first, you are only going to need to do so again afterward. This is because you will have knocked dust and dirt onto the floor when you have been cleaning the surfaces. Make sure you wipe down and dust all surfaces prior to vacuuming.
Too much water – Last but not least, using an excessive amount of water on upholstery is another error. This can cause damage to a number of different fabrics. In some cases, it will also cause mildew because the fabrics will not dry out properly.
As you can see, there are a number of common cleaning mistakes that people make today. If you can avoid the blunders that have been discussed above, you can make sure that you clean your property thoroughly and efficiently. After all, no one likes a dirty home, do they?
