We all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but it can also be the hardest. Unless you’re one of the lucky ones, there’s every chance you don’t fancy eating when you first wake up. You’d rather just kick back with a coffee and get to work early, right?
We feel you, especially given sugary cereals and tasty breakfast pastries have been pretty much outlawed. The idea of a bland bowl of bran flakes doesn’t get the digestive juices flowing. If you’re going to force yourself into eating, surely you should have the luxury of eating something sweet?
Well, we may have you covered. We don’t think you should deprive yourself of something sweet at the breakfast table. In fact, a study published in the journal Steroids found that if you’re cutting calories and sugar, the best time to indulge in something sweet is in the morning because that’s when your metabolism is at its peak. Of course, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that cramming full of sugar first thing in the morning isn’t the best idea. At the very least, it's sure to leave you crashing by mid-morning. Instead, we’ve got some sweet, healthy alternatives to sugar which could make all the difference to that all-important first meal of the day.
