When you think of your own health and beauty regimes (like a hair care routine), there are plenty of products on the market to consider. But what about eco-friendly products? Don’t fear, dear reader--there are some things you can do to make sure that you approach your beauty routine in a much more environmentally friendly way--and it might even be easier than you think!
In this post, we'll take a look at some of the greener ways to approach health and beauty so that not only are you looking after the planet, but looking and feeling your absolute best as well.

A Greener Approach To Health & Beauty
Buy Secondhand
If there's one way I love to spend a Saturday, it's perusing second hand stores, flea markets, thrift stores and tag sales. Goodwill, Savers and Habitat For Humanity Restore are a few of my favorite spots. Part of the fun is the thrill of the hunt: you can find super-affordable, on-trend clothing like sweaters, handbags and shoes in new or like new condition.
Additionally, there are online sites like Poshmark, ThreadUp, Swap.com and Glambot that sell second hand and brand new clothing, makeup and accessories for a steal. It’s a great idea to try and buy second-hand clothes wherever possible, especially if you are on a weight loss journey or going through a pregnancy. We should all do what we can to renew, reuse and recycle and keep as much out of the landfills as we can.
Choose Bath & Body Products Carefully
If you don’t normally find yourself putting much thought into what what kind of soap you purchase and use, then this too is something that you'll also want to consider when going for a green beauty routine. Many companies use products that are harsh and harmful to the environment (we're looking at you, microbeads!) so you'll want to consider more ethically sourced pampering products, and green cleaning products. Using all natural beauty products isn't sacrificing quality, either. Organic shea butter, for example, is naturally rich in Vitamins A & E and Omega 3 & 6 essential fatty acids, which help to heal, soothe and balance skin. Our favorite cruelty-free skincare is is from Perfectly Posh, which is super affordable, are full of naturally-based ingredients and made in the USA.

These days, it's not difficult to find cosmetic companies, be it drug store or high end, that don't test on animals. Unfortunately, there are still some cosmetic companies are still performing animal testing. (It's 20freakin22, how is this even still a thing?). In any event, ALL of us, whether we are "eco-friendly" or not so much, need to stop supporting those companies, STAT. (By the way, at the beginning of 2019 I did a total clean out of all cosmetic brands that still test on animals and refuse to support or endorse these brands.)
Know who DOESN'T test on animals? THESE BRANDS!
