5 Tips On How To Dress During Winter
1. Wear Layers To Generate Warmth
Your mom was right: thermal underwear is the way to go in winter. Adding a layer of cotton blend, waffle weave "long underwear" beneath your clothes helps to insulate against the cold by trapping body heat. Additionally, wardrobe pieces with a fleece lining will help keep you warm and toasty, too.
BTdubs, fleece isn't just for casual comfort these days: you can find fleece lined leggings, tights and stylish accessories for a polished and professional look, too.

2. Add Knits
With or without a base layer, knits in winter are a must. From natural wool and cotton to man-man fibers like acrylic or nylon, cozy knit pullover sweaters, cardigan sweaters and stylish ponchos or ruanas are must haves for any winter wardrobe. Knit pullovers are perfect for layering over a crisp white button down, while cardigans can be paired with anything from tank tops to turtlenecks. And they're so versatile, knit sweaters can be worn with jeans, slacks or skirts, making them the perfect piece for both casual and professional wardrobes.
3. Wear Thick Socks
There's nothing quite like wearing thick, cozy socks during winter. Worn with boots, thick wool or wool blend socks will help to absorb moisture and retain heat, which is perfect for the brisk outdoors. Keep in mind, though, that if you opt to wear thick socks with your boots, you might want to go up at least half a shoe size to accommodate a thicker sock, and not feel uncomfortable or cramped in your boots.
I also love the look of boot socks in winter: these adorable cotton-blend socks (perfect for everyday wear) feature eyelet, lace or embroidered detail that peeks just above the top of your boot, and give a stylish je ne sais quoi to your overall look.
Leg warmers, a staple of every woman's wardrobe in the 1980s, are also popular in winter. Leg warmers are a unique alternative to tights and come in a myriad of styles, colors and fabrics. While certainly not a necessity, you may want to add a pair of cozy leg warmers to your wardrobe--just for funsies.

4, Must-Have Boots
It goes without saying that boots are a must-have for winter. From snow boots with ice grips to casual combat boots and super chic dress boots perfect for the office and beyond, a good pair of boots (or two!) is a must-have for the winter season.
For snow boots, opt for waterproof nylon fabric with a rugged rubber sole. You want your snow boot to be durable while keeping you safe by providing some traction. Combat boots can run the gamut when it comes to the material they're made from: from faux fabrics to genuine leather, it's mostly about style. However, much like snow boots, it's always best to find a combat boot with a good tread, too.
When it comes to dress boots, there are so many options to choose from, not only in terms of color and material, but style as well. Personally, I love the look of knee-high boots worn with skirts in the winter, but I also adore a cute pair of booties paired with leggings and skinny jeans, too!
Regardless of the style of boot you choose, be sure to look for a soft lining and insole that provides support and comfort.

5. Invest In Quality Outerwear
In frigid weather, a longer-length puffer coat or parka will help keep you much warmer than a traditional overcoat thanks to a layer of down or faux down insulation. Additionally, opt for a coat that is close fitting vs. loose fitting--the tighter fit will ensure maximum warmth as well. While you'll want your coat to be attractive and stylish, it should also be waterproof and wind resistant, with a hood that will help protect your ears, neck and head, and sleeves that are fitted and cover your wrists completely.
While looking stylish is the name of the game no matter the season, keeping safe and warm in winter is numero uno. We hope these tips on how to dress in winter gave you a few ideas on what to add to your winter wardrobe this season. Have any others you'd suggest? Let us know in the comments below.
