Whether you live in the busiest city or the quaintest little village, you should take pride in your neighborhood. Your home is more than just the house or apartment in which you live: it’s the world outside your window and the people with whom you share your little neighborhood bubble. And it takes more than one person to beautify your environment. You could have the most pristine, perfectly maintained home, but if it is surrounded by squalor then you’ll never feel happy and at peace.
A beautiful neighborhood takes a whole community, but often it requires a single person to inspire the necessary change. If you are desperate to improve your surroundings, there are numerous things you can do to make a difference. To get you started, here are five steps to beautify your neighborhood.

5 Steps to Beautify Your Neighborhood
Get People Involved
Turning your neighborhood into a beautiful place to live is a colossal task, and you can’t do it on your own. Even if you have your family on your side, you’re going to need backup. If you’ve always kept at a distance from your neighbors, now is your excuse to make friends. Go door to door along your street and talk to the other local residents about your plan to transform your environment. Chances are, they will be right behind you as it is just as beneficial for them as it is for you.
Clean Up
The first and most effective way to beautify your neighborhood is to clean it up. If there is rubbish in the streets and green spaces, then initiate a community-wide clean-up to get rid of it. If everyone gets involved and is given a designated area, it shouldn’t take more than a few hours on a Saturday afternoon to make your street spotless.
Plant Some Greenery
Nothing makes a place look prettier than a few well-placed plants and trees. Locate areas in your town or village that could do with some sprucing up and enlist members of your community to help get their hands dirty. If there are overgrown areas that need work, consider hiring a tree trimming company to clear some space. A community garden is a fantastic way to bring people together and will make a stunning focal point for anyone passing through.
Brighten It Up
Your neighborhood should be just as beautiful at night as it is in the day, but many public spaces suffer from inadequate lighting. Adding more light around public transportation areas, landmarks, parks, fields, and other spaces will make residents feel a lot safer at night as well as more willing to spend time outdoors in the evening. Talk to your local council about the issue and petition for better lighting in common areas.
Paint
There are few things more unattractive than crude graffiti, but a beautiful piece of art can completely transform any neighborhood. Get students from local schools or anyone artistically minded to design a mural for a high-traffic area, or create their own pieces of public art.
