When it comes to accommodating guests and entertaining others at home, the majority of us focus on making our interiors as clean, tidy, and comfortable as possible. But with summer right around the corner, you might find yourself thinking about ways to improve your outdoor entertaining areas. We have four ways that you can add a wow factor (or several wow factors!) to your backyard.
4 Ways To Add A Wow Factor To Your BackyardBefore You Get Started Before adding anything, give your garden a good clean and tidy. It’s essential to do regular maintenance on your garden to keep it looking its best and prevent pests and diseases from taking hold. This includes ensuring your soil is free from weeds and applying a good layer of mulch to retain moisture. As well as keeping areas around your plants clean to prevent insects from laying eggs and other unwanted guests from setting up shop. To begin, give your garden a good clean by removing debris and clipping back any branches rubbing against one another or nearby structures. In addition, make sure any areas you plan on planting are free of pests and disease-causing organisms such as slugs, snails, and aphids. Finally, if you have paving or tiles, hire a pressure washing company to give it a new lease of life. Once these areas have been thoroughly cleaned, it’s time to start adding that wow factor! 1. 3. Add A Chiminea Or Fire Pit Area
Chimineas and fire pits have gained a lot of popularity in the last decade or so and have gone from a novelty item to practically a necessity when it comes to outdoor entertaining, especially for evenings. Chimineas are generally freestanding and made from clay, so they are resistant to most weather conditions. Fire pits are made from a variety of heat-safe materials, such as brick, stone and metal. Make sure you place your chiminea or fire pit in a well-ventilated area, at a minimum of 10 feet from your (and your neighbors') house, as well as a safe distance from any trees and overhanging branches.
4. Build A Koi Pond
We all know that proximity to water has a calming effect, and building and maintaining your own personal water feature is surprisingly easy. You can create a stand-alone pond, add a waterfall feature or even add koi fish. If you decide to create an in-ground water feature, make sure to call 811 before you dig, to confirm it's safe to dig and the spot you chose is away from underground power or sewer lines.
